Sustainable fashion by CID, IED and Greenpeace
The Time is Now! New Citizen 1.5 is the sustainable fashion project made possible through the collaboration between several companies belonging to the Detox Consortium, design students from IED, and Greenpeace Italy.
Sustainability in the fashion system chain
With the project The Time Is Now! New Citizen 1.5, environmental sustainability in the fashion system chain is combined with the promotion of a sustainable and innovative textile production model. Eco-sustainable fashion is possible and is also capable of changing purchasing behavior!
The project, promoted by CID in collaboration with Greenpeace Italy and the European Institute of Design, has now reached its 4th edition. The shared goal is to convert the fashion production system towards eco-sustainability.
The Time Is Now! presented at Pitti Immagine Uomo n.97
On 9 January 2020, the press conference for the presentation of the project took place within Pitti Immagine Uomo n.97. In the coming months, some IED students chosen by the representatives of CID, IED and Greenpeace Italy, will be in charge of creating six sustainable men’s fashion capsule collections. They will also take care of the design of new Greenpeace branded products.
The collections and products will be representative of as many identities and lifestyles of the so-called New Citizen 1.5. Two figures that indicate the maximum increase in the world average temperature, as signed in the “Paris Agreement” to limit the rise in the temperature of the globe by 2030.
Six capsule collections with fabrics from CID companies
The time is now! New citizen 1.5 collections will be made with the fabrics supplied by the companies that make up Consorzio DEtox, selected for environmentally friendly processes: A Zeta Filati, Antilotex Flock, Berto Industria Tessile, Candiani Denim, Filati Be.Mi.Va., Filati Biagioli Modesto, Filatura Papi Fabio, Furpile Idea, Ilaria Manifattura Lane, Industria Italiana Filati, Lanificio Bellucci, Lanificio dell’Olivo, Lanificio Europa, Manifattura Emmetex, Marini Industrie, Miroglio, Pecci Filati, Tessilfibre, Texmoda Tessuti e Toscofilati.
The work of the selected students, under the creative direction of Italo Marseglia, fashion designer and Alumnus IED Rome, will be presented to the public in June 2020 in a fashion show, on the occasion of the summer edition of Pitti Uomo.
The Detox commitment for The Time Is Now!
Therefore, the commitment of Consorzio Detox in promoting a fashion that, as well as an expression of the great Made in Italy synonymous with excellence and quality, also knows how to be eco-sustainable does not stop.
